AGE 18+ WOMEN
This course suits learners with machine sewing experience and/or those new to pattern drafting and dressmaking. It is also ideal for intermediate to advanced learners who want to increase their knowledge of pattern drafting and garment construction skills and techniques.
Our courses are designed to suit your needs. You can learn how to draft the pattern, sew*, or opt for the Combo, which offers both options.
*The sew option is only available to learners who have attended pattern drafting with us. We will not teach you how to sew from a pattern sourced elsewhere.
Key Learning
- Identify measurements needed to make a shalwar
- Demonstrate an ability to take specific bodice measurements
- Calculate measurements
- Draft a shalwar pattern
- Understand method of fabric laying and cutting
- Make a pleated shalwar with an elasticated waistband
You will need to bring
Please do not bring heavy, stretchy or silky fabric
- Pattern drafting paper or a roll of white/brown paper
- 2.5m light to medium weight cotton
- 1m to 2m of 2.54cm/1" wide elastic
- Matching colour thread
Tools and equipment will be provided; we cannot accommodate using your sewing machine
Tea and coffee will be provided; you are welcome to bring refreshments. The Combo workshop will have a break to eat, please bring your lunch.
