Garment Construction - Tiered Skirt
AGE 18+ WOMEN ONLY - 6 Hours Class
This course is suitable for learners with basic machine-sewing experience and for those new to pattern drafting and dressmaking. It is also ideal for intermediate to advanced makers who wish to expand their skills in pattern drafting and refine their garment construction techniques.
Key Learning
- Identify and record measurements required to draft a four tier skirt pattern
- Demonstrate ability to take specific body measurements needed for drafting
- Calculate the necessary measurements for creating a four tier skirt patten
- Draft a four tier skirt pattern to correct scale and proportion
- Apply correct techniques for fabric laying, pinning, and cutting based on the drafted pattern
- Preapre and finish an elasticated waistband finish
- Construct a four tier skirt to individual measurments
You will need to bring
Please do not bring heavy, stretchy or silky fabric.Â
- Pattern drafting paper or a plain roll of white/brown paper
- 3m to 4m (approx 144 cm/55" wide) cotton (poplin/lawn) fabric
- 2m of 2.5cm/1" wide elastic
- Matching colour sewng thread
Tools and equipment will be provided; we cannot accommodate using your sewing machine.
Tea and coffee will be provided; we recommend bringing a light lunch/snack, or you can visit one of the local cafes/shops.
